YouTube: 5th Grade Science

Reflection:
I made a YouTube channel that has videos to watch when we talk about electricity. I will use a YouTube channel in my future classroom to show informational videos about different subjects we are learning about. It can be very useful to show a few minute video as an introduction to a particular subject we will talk about. I can use YouTube to have students watch videos at home as homework to have them get familiar with different topics. Students can use YouTube when they aren't quite sure about a topic. They can research and find some videos with something they are not quite getting and can then learn more about that topic. Students can also use YouTube to create videos for presentations. Pros to YouTube is it is easy to understand, and navigate. There is also a lot of information and resources on YouTube. A con to YouTube is that you can get easily distracted and go off topic.

Standards:
UEN standard: fifth grade science: Standard 4, understanding electricity.
EdTech standard: seven: Students use telecommunications and online resources (e.g., email, online discussions, web environments) to participate in collaborative problem-solving activities to develop solutions or products for audiences inside and outside the classroom.
ISTE standard: Knowledge Constructor: Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others.

Flyer: 6th Grade Writing

Reflection:
I decided to make a flyer to promote a school carnival. It includes information for who, what, when, where, and why. This is useful for students in all grades. As a teacher it is very useful to know how to create a flyer. I will be creating them a lot to inform parents and families about different activities going on at the school and in the classroom as well. It can be useful for students to know how to create flyers for projects that they have to do. A pro of creating a flyer is that teaches students how to create something informative, and it is easy to understand how to make a flyer. A con to creating a flyer is that it can take a lot of time to create.

Standards:

UEN standard: standard 2, how to write informative text to explain a topic and convey ideas using organization and relevant content.
EdTech standard: five: Students use technology tools (e.g., multimedia authoring, presentation, web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom.
ISTE standard: Creative Communicator: Students communicate effectively and express themselves creatively using different tools, styles, formats, and digital media.

Google Forms: 3rd Grade Math

Reflection:
The tool that I have chosen to use is Google Forms. Google Forms is a tool that allows you to create quizzes, surveys, or tests. I did my google form in a form of a quiz to quiz the students knowledge in a particular area of third grade math. There are many different ways I can use this in my future classroom. I can create more quizzes in all subject areas to test students and get immediate feed back. I could use google forms to create surveys for parents about different things in the class. This could be really useful because you would get immediate feed back from parents. Students can use this to create surveys for different assignments, or to create quizzes to help them test their knowledge. I think that there are many pros to google forms. You can get immediate feed back, it's free, easy to use, and easily accessible from any computer as long as you have a gmail account. A con to google forms is it can take a lot of time to create something.

Standards:
UEN standard: third grade math: standard 3.NBT, understanding place value to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.
EdTech standard: eight: Students will use technology resources (e.g., calculators, data collection probes, videos, educational software) for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities.
ISTE standard: Empowered Learner: Students use technology to set goals, work toward achieving them and demonstrate learning.

ThingLink: 4th Grade Science

Reflection:

The tool that I have chosen to use is ThingLink. ThingLink is a tool that allows you to create interactive pictures. I did mine on the Water cycle. The students can go around the picture and click on the different icons and they can get the descriptions of the different parts of the water cycle. I can use this in my future classroom by making a worksheet that goes with the interactive. The work sheet can have the words (1-10) and then the students could write in the different descriptions. I think that there are many benefits to using ThingLink. I think that if students are using the interactive compared to reading a book, they are less likely to get distracted and are more likely to stay on task. The students can use this tool by creating their own interactives to show what they have learned on a certain topic we discuss in class. A pro to ThingLink is that it is very easy to use and is a good way to learn facts in a certain topic area. It also really helps students to engage in what they are learning. A con is that you have to pay a fee to get all of the features, some students may want to go above and beyond but can't because of the fee for all of the cool features that cost money.

Standards:

UEN standard: fourth grade science: standard 1, understanding the water cycle.
EdTech standard: five: Students use technology tools (e.g., multimedia authoring, presentation, web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom.
ISTE standard: Knowledge Constructor:Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others.
