Podcast: 3rd Grade Language Arts

Reflection:
I made a podcast for student to listen to at home, and think about, then in class we will discuss and work on.  Podcasts are very good for students to discover and explore something new at home and then come to class prepared to talk about. It is a great thing for introductions into different topics. Students could use this tool to create different things for projects or presentations. I like this tool,it has a lot of pros to it, it is free easy to use and understand. Lower and upper grades can both use it. Some cons, it can be awkward to record your self, maybe even can be uncomfortable for some.

Standards:
UEN standard: 3rd grade language arts: reading literature standard 1, students will ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers.
EdTech standard: Students use telecommunications and online resources (e.g., email, online discussions, web environments) to participate in collaborative problem-solving activities to develop solutions or products for audiences inside and outside the classroom.
ISTE standard:Creative Communicator: Students communicate effectively and express themselves creatively using different tools, styles, formats, and digital media.

Animoto: 1st Grade Science

Reflection:
I really liked Animoto. I think it is a great tool to create videos/ slide shows, there are so many different ways to create exactly what you want. I can use this in my future class to make videos about different topics we are learning in class. I can have my students create videos for fun with this, or even about themselves. I thought that this tool was extremely easy to use and understand. There are a lot of resources inside of animoto as well. For example they have pictures and mini videos that you can add into your slide show, without having to go on to the internet and try to find a picture or video. I thought that was very nice. I didn't like that you have to upgrade in order for the water mark to go away, so its free, but you don't receive all  the potential benefits. I also didn't like how you were only allowed very few characters in the text portion. I would have liked to be able to write more on some of them.

Standards:
UEN standard: 1st grade science: standard 2, objective 3, students will identify characteristics of the seasons of the year.
EdTech standard:eight: Students will use technology resources (e.g., calculators, data collection probes, videos, educational software) for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities.
ISTE standard: Creative Communicator: Students communicate effectively and express themselves creatively using different tools, styles, formats, and digital media.

Padlet: 3rd Grade Language Arts

Reflection:
I made a Padlet to create a question, and to help students writing skills. The question is an opinion question and the students can write back with their responses. Padlet is a good tool for students to make comments and to get comments on their responses to different questions. Some pros to this tool is it is free, you can work on it from home and other people can comment on it from home as well. Some cons it is a little confusing at first, older grades would work better with this tool. Overall is a great and useful tool.

Standards:
UEN standard: 3rd grade language arts: writing standard 1, write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons.
EdTech standard: five: Students will use technology tools (e.g. multimedia authoring, presentations, web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom.
ISTE standard:Creative Communicator: Students communicate effectively and express themselves creatively using different tools, styles, formats, and digital media.

Google Doc: 2nd Grade Math

Reflection:
I used google docs to create a math assignment. Google docs can be used to create hand made assignments, in any subject. It is great for writing assignments and reports for older grades who are more proficient in typing. Students can use google docs in my class to have their parents help them with typing reports. Google docs is a great tool, it is free to use, and easy to understand. It is also great because your work is saved to google drive which you can always have access to, from any computer. It also allows you to share easily with others if you are working on an assignment or project together.

Standards:
UEN standard: 2nd grade math: strand operations and algebraic thinking, standard 2 objective 2, fluently add and subtract within 20
EdTech standard:eight: Students will use technology resources (e.g., calculators, data collection probes, videos, educational software) for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities.
ISTE standard: Computational Thinker: Students will identify authentic problems, work with data, and use a step-by-step process to automate solutions.

TikiToki: 5th Grade Social Studies

Reflection:
For Tiki Toki I made a timeline about the civil war. This tool is very useful to make timelines about important events in history. This tool is a good visual for students to see important dates on a timeline, and when things happened in reference to other things. I can have my students use this tool to create a timeline about their own life, or some important event in history we are learning about in class. I think that this tool is nice and it is really just a good visual. I think however there are a few cons to Tiki Toki, I think that for sure older students would have to use this tool, it would be too hard for younger students to understand. I like that it is free, but you have to pay to upgrade to get everything you would really want, like embedding. I also thought adding pictures to the event was a little difficult.

Standards:
UEN standard: 5th grade social studies: standard 4, objective 3, students will identify key leaders and events of the Civil War.
EdTech standard:eight: Students will use technology resources (e.g., calculators, data collection probes, videos, educational software) for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities.
ISTE standard: Knowledge Constructor: Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others.

Popplet: 1st Grade Social Studies

Reflection:
I can use popplet to have students collect their thoughts in one place. I could give them a topic to think about and then have them make a certain number of nodes, that have to do with the particular topic. This can also be useful to use for in class discussions to stay organized. I really like this tool, it is very easy to use and understand. It also is very easy to create exactly what you want easily and will end up looking good.

Standards:
UEN standard: first grade social studies: standard 3 objective 2, recognize and use a map/ locate physical features on a map.
EdTech standard: eight: Students will use technology resources (e.g., calculators, data collection probes, videos, educational software) for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities.
ISTE standard: Global Collaborator: Students will strive to broaden their perspective understand others and work effectively in teams using digital tools.

eMaze: Kindergarten Science

Reflection:
I used eMaze to create a presentation about the five senses. I can use eMaze just like a power point presentation. I can use this in my classroom to create presentations for different things we are learning in class. The students can also use eMaze to create presentations. I think that older students would be able to use eMaze to create presentations, I think that younger students would have a harder time creating presentations through eMaze. Some pros of eMaze is that it has a lot of templates available to use and go off of. It is very convenient and easy to add pictures or embed different things like videos into the presentation. Some cons it is a little hard to use, only older students would do good with this tool, (not for younger grades). It also seems very similar to power point/ google slides, might as well just use power point or google slides.

Standards:
UEN standard: kindergarten science: standard 4, objective 2, differentiate between the five senses and related body parts.
EdTech standard: five: Students will use technology tools (e.g. multimedia authoring, presentations, web tools, digital cameras, scanners) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom.
ISTE standard:  Knowledge Constructor: Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others.
